The weather gods were with us on Saturday, August 7th for the first Dinner in White. After a week that brought heavy evening rains, lightning and thunder,we could not have asked for a more picture perfect evening.
The party began at 7 PM at the surprise location, the Chase Bank patio, located on the corner of 18th and Arapahoe and white was the color of the night. White lights, white tents, white tables and beautiful people decked out in white.
The guests arrived in style in classic white attire, bringing their own picnic dinner fare, while the wine, French martinis, beer, appetizers and dessert was provided by AMC. Meniskus, a local band, played great music making the night fun and magical.
Guests enjoyed the beautiful view and sunset while visiting with one another, checking out the silent auction items and Wall of Wine, as well as visiting the French market place with facsinating artists and vendors.
We did the Diner en Blanc proud!

Women, Wine and Wisdom presents Jonna's Body, Please Hold
"What does AMC do?"
Officially, AMC Cancer Fund is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the University of Colorado Cancer Center to support its outstanding programs in cancer prevention, care, education, research and service to the nation.
No event showcased the mission and built awareness better than the first annual women's event, Women, Wine and Wisdom. AMC hosted both the talented Jonna Tamases in her riotously entertaining, profoundly moving hour-long show "Jonna's body, Please Hold" as well as the dynamic Dr. Virginia Borges' friendly and highly informative "Girl Talk" session, all you want and need to know about the Young Women’s Breast Cancer Translational Program at the University of Colorado Cancer Center.
Of course, no women's event would be complete without a bit of wine and shopping. Wine flowed courtesy of Platinum Beverage owners Mark Price and Dean Shaunghnessy and shopping from jewels to tools included Silpada Jewelry, Tomboy Tools, Daisy Paw, Arbonne, art by Paula Berger and International Villa's owe Barbara Chapman supplied gems and art glass.
The evening's most compelling moments came after Jonna's amazing performance when she and Dr. Borges held court on stage in a dialogue as entertaining as it was informative regarding the outstanding programs in cancer prevention, care, education and research at the University of Colorado Cancer Center.
Needless to say, AMC's mission was fulfilled that night!

Not the "Usual" Cancer Story
"Jonna's Body, Please Hold," takes a comedic, innovative look at surviving cancer. It is not your "usual" cancer story, but a wholly original, fast paced, creative, and hilarious performance.
Moving, funny and highly entertaining, "Jonna's Body, Please Hold" is the brainchild of actress Jonna Tamases, who, after three bouts with cancer (Hodgkin’s, Large-Cell Lymphoma, Breast) and a stint as a circus clown, brought her story to life as a groundbreaking and inspiring one-woman play. The play has received rave reviews and award nominations, and brings audiences to their feet. It is not only a helpful tool for patients, survivors, family and friends, and medical professionals, but a wildly entertaining theater event for all audiences.
"The show blew us away! There are not enough accolades."
– Stephanie Allen, GILDA’S CLUB

Women, Wine and Wisdom...Act on it!
Join us for a very special evening of Women, Wine and Wisdom on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 and celebrate women’s courage, strength, friendships and even a few of our foibles.
The featured event of the evening is an award winning one-woman show starring actress Jonna Tamases, in her riotously entertaining, profoundly moving hour-long show where we enter the hilarious inner world of Jonna's Body, where a sassy receptionist fields calls from a parade of quirky body parts: Baby Toe trapped in a too-tight pump! Sgt. Coif leading a head full of unruly troops; Uta and Ula, begging to be released from their brassiere imprisonment! When two nasty killers invade, Jonna's Body must unite to fight for her life, in a heart-pounding battle that will leave you breathless with laughter and joy.
And what are we celebrating, and of course, fundraising for? It is not something you would normally consider a cause for celebration, but currently there are more cancer survivors in the United States than ever before…11 million and counting! In addition, we are lucky to have, right here in our community, one of the best comprehensive cancer centers in the world at the University of Colorado Cancer Center. Designated after stringent review processes by the National Cancer Institute, the UCCC is making great strides in cancer research, prevention, treatment and education.
Women, Wine and Wisdom will also include a pre-event “Girl Talk,” a Q&A with Dr. Virginia Borges, one of the pre-eminent researchers on pregnancy-related breast cancer from UCCC.
Tickets are $100 and registration is now open at www.amc.org or contact Frieda Sands at 303-239-3317.
